Our Team

Sarah Aubrey

PRESIDENT & CEO

Sarah Aubrey is The Aubrey Group's founder and leader. She believes strongly in the firm’s brand promise of acting from a place of our core values — kindness, curiosity, and diligence — by being invested in improving our communities and fiercely advocating for and delivering the highest level of service. She has been the lead grants project manager, CDBG consultant and senior planner on the majority of the firm’s projects across multiple markets such as local government, nonprofit, corporate, and education since founding the firm in 2015. For our nonprofit clients, Sarah provides capital campaign and board development consulting, and applies deep knowledge of Federal and State government grant programs that she gained in her first career as a Legislative Director for the Speaker Pro Tempore the New Jersey State Assembly. She believes that we can create the world we want to live in when we align individual diligence, creative collaboration, and a clear vision. She sees her practice as a grants and planning professional in that light. She allocates 10% of her team’s time to pro bono work directly impacting nonprofit organizations serving the Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey areas.

Sarah earned a Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude and with Honors, in Political Science from Bryn Mawr College in 2013 and was a 2014 Thomas J. Watson Fellow.


Caroline Aubrey

PARTNER / CHIEF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Caroline Aubrey is a passionate professional with a unique cross-disciplinary background in the intersection of real estate and infrastructure development and the creative economy. In her role as Partner for The Aubrey Group, LLC, Caroline guides her clients as they create growth and funding strategies that help communities thrive. She has a decade of proven success in multiple industries as seemingly disparate as architecture, engineering, real estate development and music licensing. Caroline believes that no matter the industry, you need the right relationships to get results. Her passion is helping clients develop their visions and build those relationships so that their vision becomes reality.

She is an alumna of the New England Institute of Art in Boston, Massachusetts where she received her degree in Audio Production and is a proud resident of Elizabeth, New Jersey.


Isaiah Rivera

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Isaiah Rivera joins The Aubrey Group after diligently serving the constituents of the Fifth Legislative District in Woodbury, NJ for the last two years. Isaiah served in the roles of Constituent Advocate, Office Manager, Special Projects, and Legislative Director for Assemblyman William Spearman. Isaiah assisted in developing legislation and discussing policy initiatives, strategies and solutions. Isaiah is proud to have coordinated large scale District Projects between all three district office locations for special occasions and ceremonies. At AG, Isaiah coordinates with all of our clients and ensures each of their needs are met.


Connor Schmiegel

VICE PRESIDENT, GRANTS

Before joining The Aubrey Group (AG) in 2022, Connor Schmiegel had established himself as an agile communications professional and an active member of his community. He is an experienced government affairs professional with a background in theatre that influenced his path into politics. Prior to his work with AG, Connor served as Associate Director of Public Affairs for the New Jersey Food Council (NJFC), where he advocated on behalf of supermarkets, convenience stores, and the food distribution industry in the Garden State to policymakers for over two years. In addition to advocacy, Connor managed the Food Council Committee for Good Government PAC, published public-facing materials for press and social media, authored NJFC’s Annual Report and weekly newsletter, and organized issue-specific Committee meetings and events. Connor maintained NJFC’s programming during the life-altering COVID-19 pandemic that drastically changed food industry operations. Before joining NJFC, Connor served as Research Assistant to Dr. Ben Dworkin, Director of the Rowan Institute for Public Policy & Citizenship. As the manager of an array of municipal, city, and nonprofit clients to achieve grant funding and master public affairs, Connor continues to follow his aspirations to be a leader in politics.


Ethan Strong

GRANTS RESEARCH ANALYST

Before joining Team AG as a Research Analyst in 2023, Ethan Strong earned dual Bachelors of Arts, Summa Cum Laude and with Honors, in Philosophy and Political Science from Rowan University, where he enjoyed studying political economy and New Jersey politics. Interning for Asw. Gabriela Mosquera in New Jersey's 4th Legislative District and the Assembly Majority Office, he researched pedestrian safety, safety in quiet rooms in schools, and universal free school lunches. Ethan worked for four years at the Voorhees branch of the Camden County Library System, assisting patrons in using the library. He is most proud of his efforts to start a pantry offering free personal care items, which received grant funding from the New Jersey Library Association as well as an NJLA Innovative Program Award.


Micaela Itona

CANNABIS LEGAL ANALYST

Micaela Itona is an accomplished legal professional with a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, specializing in Health Law. She has a strong background in law, technology, and culture, earning her B.A. magna cum laude from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Micaela has diverse legal experience, including roles as a Cannabis Legal Strategy Analyst and Law Clerk, where she focused on cannabis licensing and regulations. She has also interned at prominent organizations, such as Demant and Exiger, where she contributed to compliance and privacy initiatives. Her commitment to public service is evident through her legal internships, including the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.


Andrew Park

CANNABIS RESEARCH ANALYST

Andrew Park is a dedicated and accomplished student hailing from Magnolia, New Jersey. Andrew’s passion for politics and civic engagement is demonstrated through his involvement as an Associate at the Rowan Institute for Public Policy & Citizenship while attending Rowan University. In his professional roles, Andrew has showcased a strong commitment to public service and policy development, notably as an Intern at Hoboken Strategy Group, where he adeptly prepared briefings and memorandums for clients and tracked vital information on New Jersey municipalities. His experience as a Constituent Advocate in the Fifth Legislative District of New Jersey highlighted his ability to assist constituents with a wide range of governmental issues and engage in extensive legislative research. Andrew’s multifaceted involvement in internships, canvassing for political candidates, and community outreach underscores his dedication to making a positive impact on the political landscape.


Liam Fleming

GRANT RESEARCH ANALYST

Liam joined the Aubrey Group as a Grants Research Analyst in 2023. In 2021 he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University, majoring in English and Minoring in Digital Studies. He received his Masters' Degree in English from Rutgers in 2022, with a concentration in Literature and Social Justice. During college, he worked as a Writing Tutor for Rutgers' Writing and Design Lab. Before joining the Aubrey Group, Liam worked in multiple positions in the Camden County Library, working with the public as well as helping manage the catalog. He also served as a Trustee in the Communication Workers of America, helping organize the Library's support staff and acting as go-between for staff and management. Liam is passionate about using research and writing to materially improve people's lives.
